Wasatch Wellness 5k

With the "girls" reunited once again.. we thought it would be fun to do something memorable together.. why not a 5k?? This was our first race together and boy was it fun! We started training at various times.. well.. Ellice really didn't, just having Owen 8 weeks before. But, we were jazzed. All of our cute little families woke up early Saturday morning and came and supported us. Isn't that just great??

We took care of some necessary business and were ready to go! Needless to say, the nerves were setting in.

The excitement was contagious and these kiddos couldn't help running around, joining in the fun... resulting in this. Dallin tripped first.. then dominoed Mylie. Can't believe Justin caught it!

Yikes. Mylie and Dallin with their battle wounds. :(

Ready to run..

Everyone piled into the Pilot and found us a few times on our course. It was so fun to see "our people", windows rolled down, cheering us on. It was so motivating!

It was so cool crossing the finish line, seeing our family along the sidelines. Adam and Drew even made it down in time. All in all, it was a great "learning race". I learned that I need to do more running outside versus the treadmill. Boy is it different! I also learned that I need to train for hills. There was a killer, steady hill the last half of the race and it about did me in. But, we finished and learned a lot!

Afterwards we listened as the awards were given for the top runners. I couldn't believe some of their times. We were completely taken off guard when my mom's name was called! She won second place in her division and got a medal!! How great is that?? So proud of her. It was so much harder running at this altitude, but that didn't stop her.

Ellice was also amazing... she was the one pushing us and motivating us... the one who just had a baby! It was so fun to do this together. A memory I'll cherish forever.

I think this might become a new tradition. We're already looking for our next run. :)
