Go Blue Cannons!

Another season comes to a close for this cute team.  It's been so fun to watch these kids evolve.  They've truly grown up together the past few years and it's been pretty neat to experience.
Check out their very first soccer game here, back in 2011. (Most of the team anyway.)
It's amazing to remember how far Mylie has come. Remember her first practice ever? Ugh! She actually enjoys it now, which makes us so happy! Not that she had to play 'soccer', but we're just thrilled that she overcame her fears of trying something new.
She still isn't the most aggressive player on the field, which is okay.  Look at her get in the action though! The hard part is that her 'game' at practice doesn't translate into her 'game' at soccer.  She's all over it at practice... scoring goals.. defending like nobody's business... but she still hangs back more during the official games.
It's hard for this mama to watch that.  But, I'm trying to be patient.  Trying really hard.
But.. there is cause to celebrate!! I'm sure you remember our goal debacle from last year.  Well.. I'm happy to report that she did score her first REAL, OFFICIAL goal! She was where she needed to be and had a great assist from Cole.  It was beyond awesome and she was so excited! And well.. I was that crazy mom.. standing up yelling like crazy.  I knew she could do it in a game! Go #3!!
Mylie tried really hard to be in position this time... and made sure she was yelling 'center' so her teammates could pass the ball.  Love that little yelling face.
She always waited patiently for her chance to play again.  With only 8 players on the team this year, she got a lot of playing time.  It wore her out!
Mylie's specialty is kicking the ball in.  She always kicks hard and right on target.  Yes!
Those of us on the sidelines had some fun too.  You could always find Luke practicing soccer and playing tag with these guys.  Mostly, when Mylie was on the bench.  Luke continues to be one of Mylie's biggest fans.  Yelling and yelling... rooting for her and for her teammates.  It was quite adorable.  Poor kid can't wait to play.  He missed the deadline by 2 weeks for fall but I'm hoping there will be an opening for spring.
Ethan lost a lot of sleep over all the soccer hubbub.  He missed his naps almost every practice and every game.
It wasn't always easy juggling this crabby fella but we don't blame him! Being the 3rd is tough!
We're not too sure what's in store for next year.  Mylie is signed up again but I'm afraid this cute team might be absorbed into the rest.  We were fortunate enough to have some dedicated and available dads willing to coach over the past few years, but they've done their time.

The inside of Mylie's 'thank you' card for Coach Craig.  I can't get over those legs and cleats!
Love the imagination of this little artist of mine.
It was a good run, Orange Thunder and Blue Cannons!
Hopefully, we'll see you on the field this fall.
