After the week of fun at the beach house, we headed back to Summerville, where Justin grew up. I'm so glad we were able to stay a little longer.
We fit in all of those things we weren't able to do at Fripp.
Camille, Hayden and Garrett were able to stay longer as well. Mylie couldn't get enough of her Aunt Camille this trip. It was beyond darling. Mylie followed her around, harassed her for lipstick constantly and simply thinks she's the best thing ever. I love it!! Camille even took her on a special shopping trip to find a souvenir. Poor Camille didn't have a girl of her own but Mylie is sure loving all the extra attention because of it.
I was in heaven having so much time with this cute guy. It's always so nice to step away from the busyness of our lives and just to enjoy time together. Life on vacation is heavenly. I loved all our chats in the car, late night laughs and etc. I'll just say it.. I'm so happy I married my best friend!
One day we headed downtown Charleston. It's beyond gorgeous. We enjoyed the scenery, gorged ourselves at Wild Wings, found some souvenirs at the Slave Market and then cooled off a bit in the fountain.
Justin doing his thing..
It was beyond hot and humid and I know this was the kids favorite part of the day.
Yes, bathing in the fountain water. So funny.
We walked down the pier and enjoyed the lovely swings by the water. Twinners.
These kiddos are sure lucky to have this guy for a dad. He's pretty darn fun.
And apparently, he's extremely ticklish too.
Another day we met up with some dear friends. Justin's best friends. They grew up together in Summerville and every trip back home, I hear new stories of mischief. So funny. J-Rob and Sarah, Brad (missed Tracy) and Kayla and Jeff. I sure do love J-Rob... he was in our singles ward and was living with Justin when we met. Brad even made the trek down from Myrtle Beach just for the night. We had a great night.. enjoyed some dinner and then headed back to the Robinson's to catch up some more. We sure do miss them!
Our last full day in SC, we headed up to Columbia to meet back up with Gerri and Steve. They had to get back to their service as temple president and matron, while we lingered in Charleston. We met them after their shift and enjoyed some lunch together. It was so neat to see the temple house, where they live currently and to spend more time with them.
That night, Hayden and Garrett babysat, so that Gerri, Steve, Camille, Josh, Kendra, Justin and I could do a private sealing session together. Before the session, we were able to tour the temple. What a small, yet gorgeous temple! I'm amazed at how efficient the church is-- I've never seen one of the mini-temples before. So cool. I loved all the 'behind the scene' facts and stories. The sealing session was the highlight of the trip, by far. It was so special to be all together, to feel the Spirit so strong and to be reminded that our family is eternal. It was the perfect ending to our trip.
(I stole this pic from Camille... I love seeing Gerri and Steve in their temple whites! Hayden and Garrett were lucky enough to do baptisms for the dead and to be baptized by Steve before they left.)
After our teary goodbyes, we made it back to Summerville and prepared for our flight the next morning. We were all exhausted.
The kids loved being able to ride the airplane again and they were so good. Lucky us!
I was positive that after two weeks away from home, I'd be more than ready to get back to my normal life and routine. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all! We truly had the best time. It honestly felt like a vacation. The kids were entertained nonstop, I slept fabulous the entire trip, my man was around 24/7 and we reconnected with family we haven't seen in a while.
Life doesn't get much better than that.
Special thanks to Gerri and Steve for making our stay so enjoyable and for sacrificing so much to get everyone together.
We love you and we'll cherish these memories forever!
