Valentine's Day

Love a fun holiday and an excuse to celebrate with my family.  I'll be honest, I wasn't as prepared as I wanted to be for this fun holiday, but I learned that it doesn't matter.  You make do with what you have.. and what you have is always more than enough.

Justin woke up with a headache and to our surprise he was still here when we woke up! He's usually long gone by the time we're up for the day.  It was fun to see him even though he wasn't feeling his best. We skipped workout class to make our house sparkly clean for an appt later in the day.  Not the most fun thing to do on V-day, but it had to happen.

The kids enjoyed heart-shaped pancakes with whipped cream and homemade syrup.  I actually didn't make it to the store the night before so I was short supplies for the breakfast I had planned.  Luckily, we had extra pancakes from dinner a few nights before.. I cookie-cuttered them into hearts and called it good.  Success!
Luke loved his Valentine trinkets.  His favorite item.. Batman socks.  This boy has an obsession with superheros.  It melts me.  He uses his 'superpowers' daily.
Mylie Anne loved everything... but I think her favorites were her new socks as well! Gotta love Target's dollar bin.

After the kids enjoyed their little presents, we headed to the church for my YW presidency meeting.  After business, we decided it was about time for showers and more Valentine fun!

We worked on Valentines for weeks.  The kids created masterpieces and mailed them to their loved ones.  We also made Valentines for Mylie's classmates and neighborhood friends.

Found this fun idea on Pinterest (can't find the original link.. bummer). Mylie loved spending the afternoon delivering these cute Valentines to her friends in the neighborhood, as well as invitations to her birthday party.
Found these ones on Pinterest too.  She took these to her preschool class.

After our deliveries, we headed to the store to pick up dinner items.  We enjoy Papa Murphy's heart-shaped pizza.. salad.. and bruschetta.  Yum! For dessert, we feasted on these cute cakes from Ikea.  So delicious!

We enjoyed a family game of Farkle and then it was time to call it a night.

Love my little family.  Loved that whatever we had, was enough.  The most important part of the day was the time we were able to spend with each other.

You are so creative. Love your ideas. Even if you felt like you just threw it together. I feel like that is the story of my holiday life. I totally agree with you.. make due.. the kids will still just soak it up and love it! Although this was a pretty awesome "throw together." :)
