Time

Every day I feel like my life is one big balancing act… for which I could actually be hired at a circus! My to-do list is never ending and often times overwhelming.

What I’m beginning to realize is that I need to schedule time for the little people in my life. I’m consumed with my duties as a wife, mother, YW leader, employee and friend. But more often than not, the items with the deadlines are the ones I tend to first...leaving the most important people in my life unfulfilled and wanting more. So.. my solution. My kids make my schedule. Not just for the preschool drop off or the soccer practice.. but for the “time” we need together.

Today, while Mylie was at preschool, I scheduled Luke in for “train and lego time”, instead of running those errands I still need to. When Justin worked late again last night...after Mylie’s homework time... I scheduled “Mylie and Luke time”, which consisted of playing horses, reading books, playing legos and more trains. Those are the items on my schedule that brought me the most joy. I wasn’t able to fit in all the cleaning and the other things I needed to tend to. The dishes from dinner were left in the sink..but most importantly, I spent time where it was needed most.
With my family.

I know I will one day look back and wish I spent more time enjoying these little stages.. enjoying the moments I have while they’re still young and they’re all mine. I know I’ll look at pictures and wish I remembered every little detail of that day… what we talked about and what they did that made me laugh. I know I’ll wish more than anything that I could relive those moments.

This boy loves his one-on-one time when Mylie's at school.  We often plan out our time together the night before, when I'm tucking him into bed... when he often says.. "hold you one more minute".
Pulling with all his might to seperate these...
He underestimated his strength.. and hit the entertainment center.
Luke's favorite toy... his motorcycle.. and it's always included in Lego time.  We often build a garage for it.  Love my idea!

For now, I going to soak up as many moments like these that I can.
