Soccer Games 3 & 4

Game 3 went about as well as the first and second.  I refused to make a spectacle of myself on the field again and actually became content with Mylie not playing.  I only had three requirements... she had to dress down... she had to warm up.. and she had to watch her team.

Mylie had quite the fan club at her games thus far... Uncles Adam and Andrew and the Wirthlin cousins! They would come dressed in orange and ready to cheer Mylie on.  We're so sad she didn't play for them.  Luckily, they came to a few of her soccer practices and saw her play there.

Game 4 I didn't even bother to bring my camera, hence the poor quality of the photos below.  Not very optimistic of me.. I must say.   Once again, we found ourselves promising the moon and even threatening to take away her bike, which we did.  She loves that bike more than life itself, but that didn't phase her one bit.

First half of the game was typical.  During half time, Luke and I kicked the ball around on the field while Justin "worked" on Mylie.  She joined after a bit and started playing and scoring goals.  We were extremely hopeful that she'd play second half. But after halftime, she went straight for her place on the sidelines.

Mylie's coach is awesome! He told her whenever she was ready to play, to just come on the field.  To our surprise, she said, "I'm ready to play," at some point during the second half. Justin motioned to her coach and he came to the sidelines, grabbed her hand and away they went!

She hung towards the back of the pack most of the time.. with a beaming smile from ear to ear.  Mylie is actually quite the runner and really fast for her age... so watching her hang back made me chuckle. We cheered wildly, as did the rest of the team and parents.  This actually meant their kids could get a little break! :) She played through the end of the game.  What a feat!!  Good thing Justin had his phone to document the momentous occasion!

High-five for playing soccer!
Team huddle.. can you see how proud that cute girl on the left is?!
Mylie's biggest fan.  Luke cheered SOOO loud for his big sis.  It was the cutest thing ever.

What a day! Mylie agreed that the game was just as fun as practice and committed to play the rest of her games. Perfect.

That's all we needed from our strong-willed her.. she needed to decide.

I heart her! I can't believe all these soccer posts. They are so much fun. She has been making such great progress! I love how you documented every game. In no time at all she will be scoring like crazy!! I really do think that you are the most patient mom ever. Way to go both of you!
