Doughnut Falls

Doughnut Falls was our official last "summer Friday" adventure. It was Luke's first time hiking and we were a little hesitant, not knowing how he'd do all couped up in the hiking pack. We were shocked...he did great... except for when he had a few hunger pains. :) It was so wonderful to be out in the mountain air and we enjoyed soaking up the weather. It was perfect.

I finally figured out why I loved it so much... it reminded me of home. The lush green forest... the smell... it had a certain comfort and peace to it.

Mylie honestly LOVED it. She kept saying... "Come on guys... let's go see the waterfall!" She hated it when we stopped to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. This girl was on a mission. No time for dilly-dallying!

Yes... hike=dresses for this girl! No talking her into pants or shorts. She's not afraid to get her dresses a little dirty.

Fun sights along the trail kept Mylie busy and on the lookout. Love this little bee.

Mylie and I even walked hand-in-hand part of it. I love moments like this with my girl.

We stopped for a little break at this creek. Mylie actually thought this was the waterfall. Funny girl. After throwing rocks and getting wet... we trekked on.

Hopping along the bridge.

Love this.

So.. this was it. You can barely see the waterfall at the top. The "hole" part actually caved in.. so we didn't get to see where the water actually goes through a hole in the rock. The pics are really cool of it online--check out the link above. We'll definitely have to go again. It worked out though.. it started to rain right before we made it there, so we decided to hurry and hike back to the car. It started coming down really hard and luckily we made it before we were too soaked. Thunder and lightening started as we were loaded in the car. Lucky us.

A little clip of Luke standing and "semi" walking. This is what I mean about tricking him into it. I'm actually impressed... the ground was crazy uneven here. Cute little guy.

We'll definitely be doing this again real soon.. before we lose our summer completely. Love hiking with my little family... love everything about it.

what a beautiful place... I am in love with the bridge photo - and I love the dress, I tell you - something I'm reminded of every day is that these kiddos have minds of their own and when an idea comes to mind, I'm hard pressed to get them to change their minds... even my baby!
