My birthday fun continued when Grammie flew into town to watch the kids for the weekend. Justin and I ventured to LA for some alone time. We started off the trip with only a few hours of sleep, but that didn't slow us down. We had three full days all to ourselves. I'll be honest, it was a little weird at first. Not "packing" my purse before leaving... not having to "respect" anyone's napping or eating schedule... we just basically did what we wanted, when we wanted. Crazy!! It was the first time we've left Mylie or Luke overnight... ever. Long overdue. I missed them like crazy, but I didn't worry at all. I knew they were in good hands. :) I thought about them every min... kept thinking.. "Oh, Mylie would love this..." about everything. Luckily, Grammie kept us posted by texting images of their activities throughout the day. That helped a LOT!
We decided to do a session at the LA temple to start off the trip. Neither of us have ever been there before, so it was a fun experience to share. Afterwards we headed over to Santa Monica to grab some yummy lunch and walk the shops along the beach. It was so fun to people watch! We walked and walked and then decided to check in to our hotel. Thanks Grammie for the condo! We rounded up the day checking out the resort, hitting up the hot tub and filling our little kitchen with a few necessities.
The nasty weather rolled in the day we arrived. Imagine that. :) We tried not to let it phase us. Day #2 we decided to go to some of the beaches nearby-- Huntington beach and Newport beach. We really loved Newport. It had such a cool feel and we could just imagine how much more fun it would be in the sun! That night we saw Robin Hood-- loved it!
Our last day we decided to make the drive to Magic Mountain. Boy are we glad we did! We knew we wouldn't have the opportunity to ride roller coasters til our hearts were content for a long time... so we did it. Ohh.. it was so much fun. There are some seriously crazy rides there.. and we both loved every minute. It actually started raining but luckily we stopped at Target before heading in and purchased some ponchos. Oh yeah baby! We didn't bring coats to CA! Who would've thought?! We decided to head home when the rain started to injure us during the rides. That night we did a little shopping and headed home to pack our bags.
The reunion with our little ones was just as wonderful as I had hoped. Mylie was eagerly waiting and Luke was all smiles. We scored with a few souveniers for the kids... a new "blue dress for Mylie (most of you know what that means)... a princess purse... and Luke got a new bball outfit. Mylie was so excited... it was cute. I think I was just as excited really! We heard all sorts of stories from Mylie and Grammie... and only a few hours later we had to take Grammie to the airport.
Grammie... thank you SO much. We can't thank you enough. It was such a wonderful break. The best part was, I came home ready to be a better mom. :) We love you!! We keep hearing all sorts of details about your adventures. Papa... and Nana and Papa... thank you for the spending money. We spent it wisely. :)
And just a few pics...
