Mylie's artwork.. kinda awesome. :)
Leprechaun Day.. aka St. Patrick's Day.. is a pretty big deal around our house. Not because of any childhood traditions... but because of traditions started at preschool.
It's amazing how quickly something evolves and what a HUGE deal it is in the lives of my little people.
Mylie spent hours on Sunday building a leprechaun trap. She was determined to catch him this year!
She drew a bed inside, trying to lour the leprechaun in.
Her creativity and determination were surprising and adorable. She also colored him a picture, of course!
In the morning, the excitement was contagious! The kids couldn't believe the trap didn't work and were completely buzzing over what transpired.
They loved tracking our leprechaun by his footprints around the house and couldn't believe he didn't fall for their 'trick gold'.
Little did we know that Luke spied the leprechaun's footprints in the middle of the night and he went to the kitchen and checked everything out.
He was disappointed we didn't catch him, but he rested a lot easier after that. Funny kid!
The mysterious leprechaun was all they could think and talk about!
He left some fancy hats, tattoos and some fun straws. Nice guy.
Luckily, he didn't disrupt the organization of the house too badly... he just dyed the toilet water and milk green and left his marks everywhere. :)
My little detectives loved every minute of the whole adventure. I documented it all on video for Justin.
After a hearty breakfast of Lucky Charms with green milk, the kids were dressed in their green attire and ready for the day.
Luke wore his hat most of the day... I couldn't believe it!
When Justin arrived home, Luke ran to the garage and gave him the play by play! Mylie and Luke walked him through the house, showing Justin every little detail.. and even added their theories alongside their tour. They were just as excited to share as they were the second they woke up.
I was so happy he could witness their excitement firsthand.
All day long they asked questions and we chatted all about leprechauns...
How did he get in?
Does he have a family?
Why doesn't he step on the carpet?
How does he turn our milk green?
Why does he want so much gold?
Do you think we'll ever catch him?
What will we do with him when we catch him?
How did he get so sneaky?
And too many... "Watch Mom! He started here.." to count.
I can't even guesstimate how many tours I had that day!
After a 'greenish' dinner, we headed to clean the church.
Once our service was complete, we headed home for our homemade Grasshopper Pie.
It didn't have enough time in the freezer to set up as much as I hoped it would, but it sure was yummy!
These kiddos of ours sure make life so much more fun!
There's nothing better than seeing the bewilderment and amazement in their eyes. I love it.
Who knows what our sneaky leprechaun will have in store for next year... but it better be awesome.
