I can't believe it's been 10 days since our little Ethan joined our family. I'm amazed at how quickly time passes. We're pretty sleepy around here but we're loving every minute we have together as a family.
Words can't describe how much we love Ethan James. He's the best cuddler around here. When I asked Luke to cuddle with me the other night, he told me he didn't want to because it's 'boring'.
At least Ethan loves it.. I guess I have 3 years before he'll think it's boring too.
Ethan is finally getting the hang of nursing and I'm hoping that it stops hurting soon. He's doing great stretches at night...3-4 hours... and he's nursing about every three hours.
Justin is convinced that I 'jinxed' Luke by blogging about how great he was and referring to him as an 'angel baby' when he was a week old. It was all downhill from there.
So.. all I will say is that our little Ethan is great so far.
He sleeps most the time and honestly, I can't seem to put him down.
He has the cutest snort. Seriously. He snorts. It makes me laugh every time.
He loves to hold my hand while nursing and he loves his binkie.
Just a few pictures from this past week...
McCann Ericksen, Justin's work, sent flowers again.. love them!
I would have fresh flowers on my table every day if I could.
The minute Mylie comes home from school, she's eager to hold her baby brother..
He's pretty fond of it too. 2 days old.
After Ethan's first bath at home.. 3 days old
Check out his feet! I think he would have been around 9lbs if he had gone full term.
Snuggles with Grammie. You can almost see how long this little guy's arms are.
Last picture with Grammie and Grandpa T bright and early before they hit the road last Friday.
Sad day. We are so grateful for their help and loved sharing this exciting time with them.
Looking forward to their next 'pit stop' in November.
Luke love love loves his little brother. He can't keep his hands off of him.
Always showing him things, rubbing his head and giving him kisses. Tickling Ethan's feet...
After Ethan's first doc appt... 4 days old... he's perfect. Weighed 6 lbs 11 oz.
This is truly a terrible picture of me.. but I'm over myself and think it's SO telling of the first week.
Beyond exhausted. Sleep deprived. Retaining water like nobody's business.
Bath time with Dad. Let me just tell you how fabulous Justin has been!! He's such a hands on dad and I love it. He's been taking care of the kids 24/7 and doing such a great job. I'm so lucky.
Ethan didn't appreciate bath time. Not at all. One week old.
Ethan loves his cradle (Thanks, Grammie! Uncle Adam's old cradle) and sleeps well there during the night. We'll most likely move him to his crib in the next few weeks, but I like keeping my babies in our room for the first month... until we get into a better and more predictable schedule.
1 week, 2 days.
Mylie and Luke have been the best of buddies.. like usual. They play together SO well. I'm seriously lucky. They move from playing house, to cars, to legos, to super heroes.. you name it.. they're playing it together.
Their latest creations... and oh so proud.
All cuddled up in his swing.. Ethan loves it. I love that you can see how big his hands are in this picture.
See what I mean.. he was destined to be big! It'll be fun to watch him grow.
Getting ready to go to Kneaders today for breakfast. All bundled up and awake.. which is rare!
1 week, 3 days.
All tuckered out after breakfast...
Caught his smile on camera... so lucky! I can't help but smile when I see this picture.
Luke's new friend from outside..
He was pretty proud!
This week has been one of the most tiring weeks ever.. but it's been one of the most enjoyable too.
I love it when my whole little family is together.
All is right in the world. I'm at peace and love every second.
I'm so grateful that Justin has 2 weeks off from work. We're down to the last few days of his paternity leave and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad.
I'm starting to panic a bit and quite emotional about it too... taking care of the kids all by myself next week. Yikes!
I know it's doable.. but it's just so much more enjoyable when he's around.
I know there will be an adjustment period for me and the most important things will have to take precedence.
I can do it.. I can do it.
