It seems like all year we've been waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting... for our trip to South Carolina.
Mylie started counting down from around 100 days.. which added to the excitement even more. I swear, the week before we left was worse than Christmas! The kids were bouncing off the walls and driving me and each other nuts. Honestly, I didn't know if any of us were going to survive to even make it on the trip!
For so long it seemed so far away... and then all of a sudden it was here. I can't fully describe the sense of relief and relaxation we experienced while 'checking out'. We made sure work, calling, and other responsibilities were all squared away, which was a feat in itself. But, it couldn't have been more worth it!
Just in case you didn't know, I'm a huge fan of afternoon flights. Our morning routine remains intact and we are able to finish the last of the packing without the mad-dash out the door. It was perfect. We even were able to stop at the store on the way out for a few last minute things. Love it.
We had trouble getting seats together with the way we booked our flights, but with a few last minute changes at the airport, we had one parent with each kid.
The kids were elated to be on a plane. I have to admit, they are at really great ages right now. It was heavenly to travel without a stroller and they were entertained relatively easy. We are definitely messing with a good thing with this new little boy on the way, but hey, it's worth it. :)
The view the kids just couldn't get enough of..

Can we say, excited??
It was fun to discover that we were on the first leg/long flight with Matt's family and Camille's family. They all had a longer layover in Atlanta, while we skedaddled to the next flight.
We made it into Charleston around 9:30pm. When we arrived, we found out that our bags did not! They said they could deliver them the next day before 2pm or we could wait and pick them up on the next flight, Camille's and Matt's flight, which arrived around 11:30pm. We were planning to leave from Summerville to the beach house the next day and needed our bags.. so we had to wait. We got our rental car, grabbed a late dinner and headed back to the airport.
Crisis averted, but it still made for a really long night.

When we arrived to Justin's home in Summerville, we were greeted by Nana and Papa, as well as Josh and Kendra! It had been way too long since we'd seen all of them and which made for a super fun reunion.

WOW! I can't even imagine how excited your children were to travel and to also travel on an airplane. WOW! Look at those faces. Love it! Those pics were awesome. I'm so glad your trip was so relaxing. Sometimes I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation, but your trip just seemed perfect. Glad everything went well.
