Easter was simply wonderful.
I had grand plans of waking up before everyone, starting rolls for dinner, hiding the fresh eggs and starting breakfast. Unfortunately, as my alarm went off, a little Mylie came into my room. She was ecstatic for Easter and was ready. Luke was still out and I clearly had some work to do, so luckily Mylie agreed to warm up in my bed while I 'checked things out'.
I ran out, took care of Sadie's morning duties, got the rolls out, hid the eggs.. and then gave the 'go ahead'.
The hunt was on...
I love all the various types of plastic eggs there are! We have basketballs, Hello Kitty, jewels. So fun.
Yes, that's a dog crate. Aforementioned 'Sadie' is visiting us this week. The Cottles are cruising it up and we're taking care of their baby. It was an interesting holiday, trying to keep the chocolate away, but doable! The Easter bunny wasn't able to lay out all the little eggs like before, but it was less work! Mylie's allergies have been out of control.. poor girl. She just can't keep her hands off cute Sadie. She seems to think her swollen watery eyes, stuffed nose and rashes are from the allergies outside. :) The kids are in heaven.
We definitely had some interesting colors going on this year.
The Easter bunny left his mark.. painting these special 'Angry Birds' eggs for the kids. Love that bunny!
The kids found their baskets insanely fast! I seem to underestimate them. Not next year.
The kids are outfitted for summer! New suits, sandals, glasses and other treats. Perfect.
We then enjoyed some homemade cream cheese danishes.
I threw dinner in the crock pot and we got ready for church in a hurry. We, of course, attempted some family photos before Justin had to run off to church for interviews.
Let's pretend we don't notice the terrible haircut I'm sporting. My hairdresser messed up. Big time. So.. let's just ignore it and pray it looks better in a few weeks. Ugh! Also.. proof to all of those disbelievers... the belly is out and quite frankly huge for 14 weeks. I'm scared for what's ahead. Moving on...
Family picture.. take one..
Take two..
Luke has refused to smile lately. I can't tell if it's his new GQ look or if he's just being crazy defiant. These two are so cute together these days... that's in between the hair pulling, spitting and hitting of course. :)
At least Mylie can muster a smile out of that cute boy!
After church, Adam and Andrew came over for dinner. We devoured deviled eggs, roast, potatoes & carrots, a few salads, croissants... and best of all.. Razzleberry pie and ice cream. We were stuffed to the brim! Everything turned out super yummy, which I was relieved about.
We enjoyed warmth, beauty and just being together. It was such a gorgeous day.
My favorite moment happened Saturday night, after dying eggs... when Mylie blessed the food before dinner. She said, "Help us to have a good Easter, but it's really about Jesus being resurrected."
I teared up instantly. My sweet girl. She's starting to get it.
I'm so grateful for my Savior. For His willingness to sacrifice all, so that we can overcome our shortcomings, weaknesses, sin and death. So we can become who He knows we can become.
I'm humbled. I'm grateful.
