Happy Halloween!

Loved Halloween this year.  I'm the first to admit.. it's not my holiday.  But... my kids love it.. so I do too.. to a certain degree.  :)  I loved talking for weeks about what they wanted to be.  Luke was pretty set on superman.  I really wanted him to be a pirate.. because he loves pirates.  It seemed to fit.  And Mylie could've been one too.. but I wasn't changing that boy's mind.  Kinda cute actually.  At first Mylie wanted to be a cat.  I loved how easy it would be. But then...she saw the super girl costume and was in love. There was no going back.

The weather was perfect.  Upper 60s most the day.. and upper 40s at night.  Perfect for trick-or-treating.

We started the night off with our traditional pumpkin pizza. I seriously love Papa Murphys.  It's so nice to have something simple amidst the craziness.  I'm not one of those moms that can pull off too many things at once.  But.. baking a pizza.  I can do that!
Of course, there was a photo op before they left on their merry way.  Showing off their super powers..
My "super" kids.  It was so fun to say that.  Super cheesy I know.
Love that this girl will pose for me... most of the time.
Mylie loved all her pink... more than loved it.  And.. she loved getting to wear makeup.  Ohh... if you could just see her face while I was putting it on.  She knew she was cute.  And.. looked like a "mom" again.
My superman. He was in heaven.  Special thanks to my friend, Heidi, who had this perfect costume. He was in love with it the minute he saw it! No exaggeration.
Think he was a little excited?
 Work it.. super girl!
Luke doesn't cooperate very well when it comes to taking pictures.  I can never get him to hold still long enough to snap a shot.  I swear I have thousands of blurry photos! And.. he doesn't like to smile on cue either.  Here's my stone cold soldier. :)
He couldn't fight the excitement.  Luckily, I caught it.
I must've asked for a smile again.  Darn it.
Justin took the kids out first, while I stayed home to "man the fort". Half way through, I went out to meet him and he headed back. Our neighborhood gets hit hard on Halloween and we were prepared! Justin took the photos out and about.  Mylie loved directing where to go.  She would choose houses so sporadically.  We'd go to one, then she'd point to one across the street.. then choose another random one.  There was no method to the madness, but that was the fun of it I guess.  She was the "little boss", as she'd like to say. Oh my.
Wish they could've trick-or-treated at our parents' houses.  Wouldn't that have been special?!
 "You comin' Dad?"
Luke was hilarious.  He would run from house to house saying.. "suuupppeerrrr mannnn!" Made me laugh so hard. He loved every second.
We had a few "candy breaks" along the way, when I was with the kids... and apparently when their dad was with them too.  Makes sense though, right? They had to get more energy.. I mean.. super powers from somewhere!

The kids lasted for a lot longer than I expected.  After a while.. their super powers waned and their buckets became too heavy.  We headed home.. warmed up a bit.. and then jumped in the car for two last houses.. Miss Karen and Miss Mercede.

Upon our return, we watched Casper.. handed out more candy.. and officially went into a candy coma.

What a great night.
