Christmas Traditions & Recipes

A unique part of our ward Christmas party this year will be the sharing of Christmas traditions and recipes. Since Justin and I are both on the activities committee, we've had the ever-so-fun job of gathering traditions from people in the ward, creating a display for the activity and creating a handout of everything... as well as pictures with Santa at the activity and much more! Phew! The party is this Saturday and we have LOTS to do to prepare!

We received a ton of unique traditions from members of our ward-- funny ones, spiritual ones, ones based on service and many more. It's been really neat to read all the traditions as I received them and to discuss them with Justin. There are some traditions and recipes that we are planning to add to our celebration this year or in years to come when Mylie gets older.

I thought I'd share the handout I made-- it's not the final draft, but I thought I'd put it up while I had a spare second. Unfortunately, I could only format them in jpegs, so if you click on the images below, they will be large enough to read. If you'd like me to email you a copy of the original document, just let me know.

I hope that this compilation inspires you to add some new traditions to your home... whether it be some of these... or coming up with new ones on your own! While compiling these traditions, I've personally developed a greater love for traditions and a greater understanding to how they can contribute to your home during the holidays!
While creating this handout, I stumbled across a talk by Elder L. Tom Perry, Family Traditions. It's a great talk about incorporating all kinds of traditions in your home.

What a great activity committe you guys are!! Loved reading them and would love a copy. (mlblackner@yahoo.com). Crazy thing is when I was reading about filling the craddle with hay for baby Jesus, I was surprised because the exact same thing happened in my family and I will never forget that. Then I was surprised again when I saw that you had wrote it!!

Also loved wrapping the Christmas books and opening one every night. I think that would help Baylee be more interested in reading the books!!
