We had a little costume crisis before we left. Originally, Mylie's costume had a blue bow tie and our sweet little girl looked like a boy. :( So minutes before we left... I cut it off and put some new bows on...distinguishing that she in fact.. is a girl! :) Justin commented that she looked more like an Ewok than a teddy bear, but regardless, we thought she looked adorable! :) I'll be honest, I'm not really a Halloween lover.. it doesn't even make my top 3 holidays..so I "passed" on dressing up and that whole bit.
Mylie loved walking around with her Dad while I was the ward paparazzi... a role I adapted to surprisingly well. :) She's turning into quite the shy little thing these days..cuddling up to her Dad whenever anyone would approach her and tell her how cute she was. She'd quickly bury her face in his shoulder and smile. It was cute.. but I don't know where our smiling and laughing baby went! I guess she's keeping those shows private.
Mylie stayed busy flying with her Dad, on his shoulders and watching little people run around. I was so happy that she had such a warm costume! There were some little ones out there just freezing to death... I felt so bad. Mylie remained toasty and quite content, despite the cold and her obnoxious hood.
The whole day, Mylie had really been on edge.. just cranky cranky cranky...so I was a little worried about how the night would turn out in such a cumbersome costume. She did great at the party and then when we got home, she was elated. We took her costume off and she just sat in the family room playing all by herself... content as could be. Justin played with her while I got dinner ready, and then the whole time we were eating.. she just smiled and laughed and tried to get our attention. It was pretty cute.
I'm way into traditions... or finding fun ones to start. I found a recipe for a pumpkin pasta and ghoulish green garlic bread. I thought it would be a fun finale to our evening. I slaved over this new recipe.. well only for like 45-1hour... and the pasta was AWFUL! Justin kindly said it was just "bland", but I couldn't even take more than one bite of it! I was SO disappointed! The garlic bread turned out awesome.. kinda fun.. but that's all we ended up with tradition-wise! Ellice, I think it might compliment your dinner in a pumpkin quite well! :)
Of course the night had to end with Mylie's first sucker...not the whole thing.. but just a good amount of licks. Needless to say, she was one sticky, drooling thing by the time I decided to call it quits. After a bath with her Dad...she didn't even put up a fuss going to bed. She simply rolled over and passed out..quite the evening. I'm trying to convince myself that her having a rough night last night didn't have anything to do with the sucker she had before bed...nothing to do with her being up from 1-4am! :)

All in all, it was a pretty fun evening with spent with my most favorite people in the whole world. It's so much more fun to experience holidays with a little one...she makes everything exciting, even when I'm not a fan. So.. we'll chalk one up to a successful first Halloween! I'm pretty excited that it's over...because that means we're closer to Christmas..my MOST favorite time!!! :)

Mylie looked so cute in her costume! The bows were so cute.. and definitely made her look like a girl. DId you just hot glue them on... or did you sew them on??
Sounds like you guys had great time at the Trunk-or-treat... I love watching all the little kids too. It is one of my favorite parts of the Holiday.
Sorry about your dinner... Rachel Ray didn't come through this time :(. I will have to get the recipe for the bread though.
I am so glad you gave Mylie a sucker!!!! Yeah for Mylie!!!! Not that she has had it.. she will always want it :) I love it!!!! Every child deserves a treat on Halloween :).
I love the Teddy Bear costume!! I have never seen that before! How clever! Bummer about dinner..I hate when I make dinner and it turns out less than expected!! Mylie is so cute!
Love the costume! She looked adorable and the bow was a nice touch, she definately looked like a girl!!!
What a fun night you had... and a great first Halloween for lil' smilie girl. She was so cute in her teddy bear costume, great idea with the bow and I did look at the ewoks.. Justin had a point but I think she was leaning more to the teddy bear side. I understand the bit about Halloween doesn't hold a candle to Christmas!!!!
