Pumpkin Fun...

Unfortunately, it was another nasty weekend! For some reason, the last 3 or 4 weeks, the weather has been awesome during the week and nasty just on the weekends. I hate that! So, needless to say, we were brainstorming some fun "indoor" activities! Carving pumpkins was at the top of the list! Last year we wanted to carve some pumpkins a day or two before Halloween, and they were sold out EVERYWHERE! We drove up and down Utah County looking for just one, but failed. So, we thought we'd jump on the ball this year and get a good pick!

I thought Mylie would be incredibly entertained by the whole experience, but she surprised me. She loved playing with her little pumpkins-- rubbing them especially-- but she wasn't too fond of the "insides"! She would touch the sliminess and get the funniest face.. she was pretty grossed out. But she did love everyone being on the ground together! Mylie loved seeing the pumpkins lit up, but by that time.. she was ready for bed.
Justin decided to try a new technique this year. I'm not sure what you call it... perhaps shaving and digging?? Anyway, it was a lot more work than he anticipated and after a couple hours, he wasn't too fond of the result, but didn't want to put anymore time into it! I'm glad that he tried it this year, because he's been thinking about doing it for a long time! I think it turned out pretty awesome.

Anyway, it was a fun and festive night. It's funny how much more exciting holidays are when you have a kid! I'm excited to dress Mylie up for Halloween too!! I hope she'll like wearing her costume! Firsts are always fun!

Have you carved pumpkins yet??

Those are some pretty great pumpkins!!! Mylie looks like she was having a great time, but the one picture must have been when she touched the insides. I thought Justin's pumpkin looked awesome. You can tell he is an artist at heart. All and all it looked like a real fun time, thanks for sharing.

Love your pumpkins! I can't wait to go to the pumpkin patch!
Hey you totally need to come with me to our next play group! They all live in Sandy so it's up there but I can just pick you up on my way. It's so much fun and a great group of girls. I'll call you next time we do it to see if you are available. (Also I think we are going to try to go to the bean museum at BYU next month..so if you don't want to go all the way up to Sandy you can come to that one.)

Okay, how long did it take Justin to carve that? Jeff would rather have me yank out his toe nails with pliers than have to do that. Justin is a good man. How cute to have Mylie's first Halloween! I want to have her come trick or treating! Maybe not this year....Cute pumkins. We need to BUY pumkins. I am a loser. A working loser.
