Draper Temple Open House

I'm so glad that we took the time this morning to go to the Draper Temple Open House! I'll be honest... we were hesitant to take Mylie... just because she isn't the most quiet person in the world, and we didn't want to ruin the experience for anyone else, but I'm so glad we decided to take her.

On Monday night, for FHE, we talked about temples and etc., trying to prepare her. I was surprised the next morning when she saw the pictures that we left out.. pointed and said "teeple". Children understand so much more than we think they do.

We went first thing this morning, and luckily we were one of the few during the time we went. This made it so wonderful to let Mylie walk and admire all that she wanted to-- and it let us do the same. Mylie loved the huge wall murals in the ordinance rooms, the oxen at the baptismal font, all the pictures of Jesus and all the stairs she was able to climb. Her most favorite part though was probably walking through the tunnels that led to the temple doors and to the church for the reception afterwards. I wouldn't say Mylie was exactly silent, but she was respectful, which I appreciated. I'm sure the Spirit had something to do with that.

I was so impressed by the intricate detail of the temple. Nothing was overlooked. Everything was immaculate and perfect. The colors throughout, the wood working, the furniture, the many paintings and floral arrangements, the glass etchings... everything was simply amazing and stunning. Even the reception afterwards was extremely tasteful and so informative.

How blessed we are to live so close to so many temples and to be apart of this great church! I hope Mylie will be able to remember the spirit that she felt at the temple today as her testimony grows.
