Mylie survived! We headed to American Fork hospital this morning at 7am for Mylie to get tubes. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous but because it's such a common procedure I knew everything would go okay. Mylie did great. We waited about 20 mins in pre-op and Mylie was a little on edge-- hungry (she wasn't allowed to eat or drink since midnight),tired, cranky and ready to be out of that room. Justin found ways to entertain her while we talked to the various docs and did the paperwork thing. She did look pretty cute in her gown.
The nurse told us she could take something with her to anesthesia-- so we thought her blankie would be a good choice. I guess they just give them a mask and they only have to inhale the drugs for about 10 secs before they are out. I'm so glad that needles weren't involved! I really wanted to be there with her for that, but no luck for me! :( She didn't even have a problem when the nurse hauled her away.. probably because she had that blankie.
Dr. Heras said the surgery went great. Thank goodness! But Mylie did have a rough time coming out of the anesthesia. She cried hysterically the whole time... almost an hour. They had to watch her vitals for about 30 mins afterward, then we were free to go. I think they really wanted us out of there... she was probably scaring all of the other kids and parents. We couldn't get her to calm down for anything... she was just so disoriented. Suckers didn't work...bottles didn't work... sippy cups failed too... but the mention of going home to Tink got her to stop for a second! When we got home she still was freaking out until we plugged in Baby Einstein. Thank heaven for those DVDs. We'd be lost without them. She finally calmed down enough to eat some breakfast and then she sleep for over 2 hours.

We went to Dr. Hera's office this afternoon to get the tubes checked and they looked great. No bleeding or drainage, so Mylie's good! She's definitely "Sensitive Sally" today, but understandably so. The "crazy headshake" made it's debut a couple hours ago, so we know she's doing a LOT better. We just hope this procedure relieves Mylie of all those awful ear infections and allows her to be the happy and crazy little girl that she is.

Mylie is a trooper.... I'm so glad everything went great!
So glad all is well. Everyone I know of that their kids have tubes say they are wonderful!
Oh my. this is so hard for moms. Savy had her adenoids and tonsils out about 4 months ago and it went so smoothly, but there is just this guilty feeling knowing they have no idea what is going to happen. I am glad she will be ear infection free. Hopefully!
so glad Mylie is doing well. like Jada said, these things are so hard on moms too. knowing that you're not there to comfort them. but it sounds like you all made it through.
and thank goodness for dads that know how to entertain fussy kids.
Ah what a little trooper she is. . .and you! :) And she did look super darling in her little gown. Hopefully she will be ear infection free.
Oh poor, sweet Mylie. Nathan sympathizes with her. He had really bad ear problems too. He still has really sensitive ears. She looks cute in her gown.
Oh my goodness! It looks like both you and Mylie were guite the troppers. That can be so scary for Mom's....and even Mylie. Glad to hear everything is going good! She looks so cute sitting in her little hospital gown..
Oh i'm so glad she's ok! Thank goodness for our modern technologies and medicines to keep our kids safe and happy!
Oh poor sweet girl! I hope she's feeling better. I didn't even know you were taking her in. Nice neighbor I am. Do you guys need anything? I'm excited to take the kids to the pool this summer! Ash loves playing with the babies and I think the girls would have lots of fun. Let me know if you need anything. Heidi
Poor baby I hate seeing them unhappy. I am so glad to hear she is doing better
oh bless her heart thats no fun at all.... but we wont her to be a healthy little lady! she looks like she handled everything for the most part pretty well! she must be a tough cookie!
Poor Mylie! It is never fun taking your child to surgery! I remember taking Garrett at about 9 months. NOT FUN. I am glad she has tubes now, she will be much happier! I need to call you back about watching that cute baby. We just got back in town. We took the kids to Disneyland. It was a BLAST! Very needed indeed! I will call you.
She is so cute. Kennedy got tubes too and was a trooper!
oh, I am sooo glad everything went well! That would be really hard, I got all teary eyed when the nurse was hauling her off! Way to go mom and dad for making it through it as well. Stuff like that can be so hard. Better days from now on!
