We thought we'd jump start our Labor Day Weekend and head up the canyon for a little camping and hike. Justin took off work on Friday and so we headed up Thursday night. Mylie loves the outdoors and we were convinced that she'd love sleeping outdoors, fires and etc. It was such a fun night-- a little different camping experience-- but really fun. Mylie was mesmerized by the fire and loved cuddling up. We spent the night all sleeping a little too close for comfort, but we definitely kept each other warm! It rained a little bit during the night, but it was dry by morning.
We started moving pretty early-- thanks to our little Mylie-- who is our alarm clock! But as we ate breakfast it started to rain. We decided to head home and wait for the rain to burn off and then we'd head back up the canyon to do our hike. Sure enough things started to look a bit better by noon.
The Silver Lake hike was beautiful! We just love the outdoors and admiring nature. At the beginning of the hike, Mylie was in heaven...tons of trees to look at and grab, and wind blowing in her face! I got a cold the night before so I wasn't in my tip-top shape for hiking, but made it through. It was low 80's with a light breeze... who could ask for more!? Close to 2 hours into the hike-- and about 3/4 the way to the top, Mylie decided that she was done!!! She missed her nap and wasn't happy! We thought maybe she'd fall asleep in her hiking pack but we were wrong. So we decided to head back down before she was too upset. Sure enough 45 mins later by the the time we made it to the bottom, she was screaming hysterically. At the entrance to the hike, there was a group of 10 yr olds about do to an overnight hike. As we passed them, they were silent and wide-eyed! Poor Mylie!
We learned our lesson once and for all... we must respect Mylie's nap time!! Looks like it's just some short hikes for us for the next little while! :) We really had a great time overall though and just love spending time as a family. What a way to kick off the weekend! We're not too sure what other adventures we'll have this weekend, but we're excited to find out!! :)

Looks like you guys had a great time. Mylie looked so cute in her pack :) I am glad that this hike was a more of a success with the pack then before. You guys are so good to get out and do those kinds of things :).
By the way... you should be getting your package around Wed (I hope). Sorry it took so long to get those shirts back.
Love you!! Kiss and hug that baby for me :). Maybe I need to make her a picture book just of me and you could read it to her every night... then she might like her auntie :).
