We were so spoiled to be able to go on a second trip down to Lake Powell this summer! We just got home from another fun week! And I'll be honest... if you've never been to Powell or even if you have... September is the best time of the year!!! The weather was gorgeous.. perfectly warm during the day and cooled a little at night. We couldn't have asked for a better trip! It was a lot more mellow, compared to the last trip we went on... only 9 people instead of nearly 20. It made a huge difference in such a large houseboat!! Gerri and Steve were here for the trip from South Carolina and it was fun to watch them experience the lake for the first time!
Mylie was a dream baby! I think Lake Powell is her very most favorite place on earth. She was spoiled rotten with attention by Nana and she loved watching her cousin Ryker. She has developed a new fondness for "little people" and finds them simply hilarious. She bursts into laughter just watching them play in their little world. It's quite cute! She napped great and slept pretty well too...right up against her Dad! :) Needless to say, we're happy to have her back in her crib. Mylie loved the boat and our little excursions put her to sleep. The wind was perfect... well let's be honest... any wind for Mylie is perfect! Her ideal day is warm and windy! :) Looking at her.. it seems like she chunked up a bit too.. she's just getting so big.. right before our eyes.
The lake was a lot slower paced this time of year... I guess it's considered the off season... but I wouldn't have it any other way. We loved gazing at the stars at night... they were truly amazing. I decided that I couldn't go down to Powell again without kneeboards... my VERY most favorite thing to do in the world (that's besides being with my little family)!! I asked my cousin Jen if I could borrow hers for this trip!! And boy.. I'm so glad I did! I haven't been on the water in about 4 years.. which I consider a SIN! Honestly, kneeboarding made my heart sing! It was SO much fun! Justin was such a good sport to give it a try, despite his bad knees, and he got up the first time!! He thought it was pretty fun, but the angle of his feet was pretty painful for him! Right off the bat he wanted to get air off the wake and try a 360. It was fun! I also taught Josh, Justin's brother too! I was just in heaven... until I realized how completely SORE I was! I could barely walk the next day!! How pathetic is that!? It was worth every second! Thanks Jen & Ross!!
All in all.. it was a wonderful trip. We enjoyed some great company, caught up on some fun reading, soaked up the sun and truly had the best time! I just love vacations!!!! It's back to reality again... darn... but we loved it while it lasted!

Looks like you guys had another wonderful trip to Powell. I am thinking Sept is the time to go. I much prefer more mellow trips... and I think just about anyone could handle Powell in that house boat :).
So glad you got kneeboarding buddies.... and that you found some boards.... oh the simple joys of life :). I think we might have to do Banks next year :).
Thanks for sharing your pics.. they are all so wonderful :) Love you... can't wait to talk to you about the trip :)
WOW! Super fun! Lake Powell sounds pretty amazing. So much fun that you guys had the family there, kneeboards and a happy baby! fun fun!
AMEN!
I am so glad to hear your are keeping the kneeboarding alive. I too went while we were there and taught a few people how to kneeboard. And yes, your cute little Mylie is starting to fill out- i love the chunky thighs! :)
I am soooo glad you borrowed the kneeboards! ANYTIME! I mean it! Ross is such a ski junkie, the boards don't get nearly as much play time as the are entitled to...it looks like another fun Powell trip for you guys, I'm so jealous!
